Approaching 25 years in the sign and graphics industry The Sussex Sign Company creates branding and signage solutions for a wide and varied portfolio of clients.
The Sussex Sign Company is a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) and correspondingly, provides a comprehensive range of professional graphic design facilities, signage and vehicle livery products and services for small to medium-sized enterprises (SME’s).
By means of unparalleled support from an evolving team of graphic design and signage professionals, the organisation has continued to expand, and The Sussex Sign Company successively acquired two main competitors; effectively merging all three organisations in 2009.
Norman
Our Managing Director, Norman Mayhew established The Sussex Sign Company on the 1 January 1995 with his Father-in-law. The company became a Limited Company in 2003 and together they grew the business to great success until Peter’s retirement in 2007.
Linda
Linda Edwards joined the company in 2003 as a designer and has worked in every department through the years, moving into management, and is now The Sussex Sign Company’s Operations Director and Norman’s “right-hand person” running the day to day operation of the organisation.

Our clients include major brands in the property, automotive, financial, legal, educational, retail, leisure and service industries; across the Public, Private and Voluntary sectors. Our extensive range of completed projects include but are not limited to architectural and wayfinding signage solutions, directory systems, external and internal illuminated and non-illuminated signage systems, monolith and totem structures, wall and window manifestations, traditional signwriting, vehicle livery and full-colour change vehicle wraps.
Representing a turnover touching £1,500,000, The Sussex Sign Company is based in Portslade, Brighton (East Sussex). At present we operate from within 4000 square feet of manufacturing plant with immediate access to both the arterial road (A23/M23) between central London and Brighton and the A27. The prime positioning of our headquarters permits us to provide our comprehensive range of services across, both East and West Sussex, London, Kent, Hampshire and the Home Counties.
The Sussex Sign Company delivers nationwide consultancy and support services; likewise we can also act in response to your exacting design and fabrication requirements. Our combined skill and knowledge foundations in graphic design and the manufacturing and installation of signage enable us to provide you with an innovative yet pragmatic solution to your branding and signage brief in addition, our quality of workmanship will make certain a positive result for all.
Over the years The Sussex Sign Company has been recognised for its achievements by its peers furthermore, being full members of the British Sign and Graphics association you can be assured of the very highest of standards and quality assurance. All our work is Guaranteed for three years, which we believe is unparalleled in the industry coupled with the fact that we have over 100 – 5-star reviews on google, so far as we are aware, no other sign company in the country has achieved this to date.
Training is essential to us at The Sussex Sign Company, and as such we have achieved the very highest health and safety accreditations, including but not limited to, CHAS (construction health and safety scheme) Safe Contract, and Gold standard Constructionline.
Further to this all our team members regularly carry out intensive product training, and our fitters all hold CSCS cards, and have PASMA certification and IPAF certification, as well as having all attained the NVQ in Sign making where required.
Apprentices play an important role in The Sussex Sign Company’s structure, and we have recently trained four apprentices in sign making.
The Sussex Sign Company has also signed up to the Military Covenant and is a living wage employer something we are incredibly proud of.
